32 Hours and Counting....

So I am here in London! Woo hooooo. The flight from Dallas was not bad at all, although as usual I didn't get a wink of sleep. So instead I amused myself with the in-flight movie and my newly purchased "The Office Season 2". And some new music courtesy of the new, unnamed, iPod.

But finally, at 6.52 GMT, aka 12.52 CST, we touched down. Customs was quick and painless, but hauling my two bags + the carryon over far distances was not exactly easy. Especially when the Gatwick Express was crowded and of course someone had to help me put my bag on the shelf!

Anyway, got to Victoria Station around 8.30 and waited for about 90 minutes to meet my flatmates, Bethany and Emily. It was kind of entertaining, because as I was waiting for them, I saw Diane's dad walk by really quickly! I didn't get a chance to call out "hello" though.

Once I met up with the 'mates, we dropped my stuff off at the flat on Grays Inn Road! It's really nifty, I like it alot. Not fancy but still cute, despite the fact that the three of us are sharing a room. Contrary to initial reports, the flat is not above a pub, but rather an art gallery that has a sky window, so you can see from our living room what's on display. It's cool.

From there we went to London Met's North Campus to catch some of orientation. Everything's so big and confusing and just DIFFERENT than Belmont, it might take some adjusting! But I'm pretty stoked about it anyway. On the way back we stopped and got my flat key, as well as my orientation papers. Annoyingly, my class schedule times have changed from what they originally emailed me-- for some reason my marketing class is going to be twice a week. Slightly annoying, but the second occurance is on Friday mornings, so at least I have the afternoon off.

Extremely thrifty shopping at the grocery store (I got fig flavored yogurt, interesting eh?), then I finally got to take a shower as I was disgusting! We finally left and came over here to Bethany's parents' flat in a really nice part of town! Hence the internet access. Wooo hoo for free wi-fi.

Other than my legs and feet hurting and the general blahness of being up so long, everything's pretty good right now. Let's hope I become more accustomed to these new areas I'll be inhabiting the next few months!

Good to Go!

Well, my bags are (mostly) packed. My teeth are (mostly) fixed up after a very last minute fixing of my retainer. Now all I have to do is pack up my carry on bags and pick up "The Office Season 2" from Barnes and Noble, and head off to the airport for my 4.20 PM flight!

I'll get to London around 7.00 AM which is essentially 1 AM Central Time. So lovely. From there I'll take the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station, where my roommates Bethany and Emily will meet me, and the rest of the day will be getting settled! Quite exciting. Hopefully I'll have internet access quite readily....

In the meantime, leave comments and such! And, if you'd like a postcard, email me your home address at westwiththenight[at]gmail.com !

Au revoir for now!
